Leprosy control measures will have to continue for many decades.
A bequest to the Pacific Leprosy Foundation will help to ensure that the work which we are doing today can be continued and expanded to achieve our vision and goal of a leprosy-free Pacific. Sadly, that goal is still a long way from being achieved – because of the slow development of the disease, it could be another fifty years of hard work and vigilance before we can declare the Pacific to be a leprosy-free area; even then, medical training and leprosy control activities will need to continue to maintain that status.
