Petelo gets his own room!

Petelo gets his own room!

Petelu Salue is a very happy man now. After getting married, he lived with his wife’s extended family near Apia where he and his wife raised their four children.

When his wife died about 10 years ago, he felt he was a burden living with her family and started a nomadic life going around spending time living with his siblings and his children trying to find a place where he could feel comfortable and non-invasive. Having no place of his own to call home, he spent most of the past few years living with his two oldest daughters, their husbands and their 7 children in an old one-room open fale. Two years ago, your help funded a shower and toilet block for the family.

Petelu dreamed of having his own room someday where he could live peacefully and not bother anyone. The Foundation was able to make his dream come true. Your support funded the cost of building materials to build a small one-room house for him near his daughter’s fale. His family got together and provided the labour to build the shelter themselves.

Now Petelu is a really happy man. He has his own room near the toilet/shower block and plenty of grandchildren around to keep him company.
